Care Coordination & Capacity Building to Prevent Overdose

How do we prevent substance use-related suffering and support community members in need? Drs. Seunghye Hong and Paula Morelli recently launched a culturally conscious program providing workforce development to empower communities in Hawai‘i to do just that. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control’s Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program, community members and service providers received training in Care Coordination & Capacity Building (C3) for 12 full weeks and a unique field placement. Pilina Center’s Sarah Combs and Jo Qina‘au delivered a module on wellbeing assessment and planning with insightful participants on Kaua‘i and Moloka‘i islands.
